New Appeal For Board Members

02 February 2012

New appeal is made to attract board members for Down Community Arts

Down Community Arts (DCA) is looking for people from all bacgrounds to sit on its board of trustees.

Those who successfully apply will help to ensure the charitable organisation, which provides community arts projects across the district, is run properly.

DCA works with a wide range of children and adults in the Down community such as children and young people with learning disability, young people at risk, families, adults with mental ill health and older people.

Philip Campbell, DCA Project Manager, hopes people wanting to make a difference in the community or gain experience in the arts will get in touch. "A lot of people get intimidated when you mention the arts, but here at DCA we believe that participating in arts activities is a great way to bring people and communities together," he said.

"Our priority is to enhance and improve community life through providing opportunities for people to come together, have fun and possibly learn a new skill without the fear of 'Am I doing it right?'

"What we ask of our board members is to ensure that DCA is run appropriately and that we are meeting the needs of the community it serves. We encourage members to help develop and put into action new community arts projects, assist with fundraising and raise awareness of DCAs work."
